Research, Teaching & Professional Experience
Tan Sang Sang received her bachelor’s degree (first class honours) and master’s degree in computer science from University of Technology, Malaysia. Her main research interests are in sentiment analysis, data mining, and machine learning. Before joining NTU as a Ph.D. student, she worked full-time as a software engineer while teaching several programming and database design courses as a part-time instructor at Open University Malaysia. At her full-time job, she was a lead software engineer on a sectoral ICT project in which she was responsible for the company’s transformation from traditional software delivery model to cloud-based SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) model. Together with IDA (Infocomm Development Authority) Singapore and SWAS (Spa & Wellness Association) Singapore, the project created the company’s main product that provides a subscription-based business management solution for the beauty, spa, and salon industry in multiple countries.
