Support for Faculty and Research

The WKW Legacy Fund has been used to support conferences, post-doctoral fellowships, research symposiums, research scholarships and research projects. This support strengthens the School’s research culture and support collaborations and new initiatives.

3rd Taiwan- Singapore Workshop on Library and Information Research, 17-18 Jan 2011

The Workshop aimed to promote collaboration and cooperation among information researchers and educators in Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand.
61 participants from Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia participated in the Workshop.
The Workshop was successful in promoting research collaboration with three new regional collaborative projects being initiated at the Workshop.

Seventh Conference on Chinese Media and Chinese Civilization, 27 – 29 Aug 2011

To enhance Chinese cultural communication, Hebei University (China), Association of Journalism History (China), School of Journalism and Communication of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China), and Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information of Nanyang Technological University of Singapore held the Seventh Conference on Chinese Media and Chinese Civilization in Baoding, China, August 26-29, 2011.
The theme of this conference is “Peaceful rise of China and Chinese culture—Adaptation, integration and innovation for Chinese media”.
The conference was held successfully and Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information was promoted through the conference.
The school will continue to be a co-organizer of the next meeting of this conference series to be held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province of China in 2013.
