Research, Teaching & Professional Experience
  • Adrian's first degree was a Bachelor of Arts (History and Political Science) from the National University of Singapore. He started his working career with the European Export team at Danish shipping giant Maersk in Singapore. He left the private sector to join the Civil Service and was placed in the enforcement department of the Ministry of Labour. Later, he was posted to headquarters to work on corporate communications for the Ministry of Manpower. During his time there, he won the inaugural Marine Parade CDC - Singapore Institute of Management Scholarship to read Marketing Management at the Institute. Selected to kick start knowledge management in the Ministry, he embarked on a Master of Science (Knowledge Management) at Nanyang Technological University. The knowledge obtained during his course was put to use in his next job at the DSO National Laboratories' Business Development Division, where he specialized in internal communications to support KM initiatives in the organization. His last office before taking up full time research work was at the Health Promotion Board where he held two concurrent portfolios, Workplace Health Promotion and Communicable Disease Education.
  • He is now a PhD student in the Division of Information Studies. He divides his time between dissecting discourses he finds around him and accompanying whomever is willing to have him around. His supervisors are Dr Brendan Luyt and Dr Lee Chei Sian.
