Research Resources & Tools

The Tobii T60 eye tracker enables researchers to conduct on-screen eye-tracking studies where the stimuli are presented on the monitor. It is designed for studies on web and software usability, human-computer interaction (HCI), eye-based computer interaction, and online marketing.
The Tobii Glasses allows researchers to study individual perception and visual behaviour in real time. The wearable tool is suitable for research on advertising, psycholinguistics and reading, in-store shopping, mobile device testing and usability, signage and navigation.
The Biopac MP150 system, used in conjunction with AcqKnowledge software, lets researchers collect and analyse physiological data such as heart rate, respiration rate, and electroencephalography (EEG) signals from human subjects. It can be used in psychophysiological media research, for instance to study cognitive and affective responses to different media stimuli.
The Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) facility is employed by researchers who conduct voice surveys, for example in public opinion studies. The system features a multilingual interface and can support more than one study simultaneously.
Located within the School, the Communication & Information Library (CMIL) houses a rich reservoir of print and electronic resources. Users can access more than 200 subscribed databases covering 54,000 unique e-journal titles on a variety of disciplines such as advertising, broadcasting, communication research, information studies, journalism, library science, media law and ethics, and public relations.
Software

A range of software applications and online survey platforms is provided by the School to cater to the needs of both quantitative and qualitative researchers. They include SPSS, Amos, Mplus, NVivo, and Qualtrics.
