Communication and Informatics Research Laboratory Asia (COOL ASIA)
The COmmunication and infOrmatics research Laboratory Asia (COOL ASIA) is the strategic research arm of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University. COOL ASIA oversees the facilities tied to the school’s strategic directions on communication and informatics research as well as the branding of the school’s research capabilities.
COOL ASIA’s research centres:
Centre for Healthy and Sustainable cities (CHESS)
The Centre for HEalthy and Sustainable citieS (CHESS)is an interdisciplinary research centre devoted to projects on health, risk and environmental issues from human-centred perspectives in the Asian context.
As one of the research centres in COOL ASIA, CHESS draws upon theories and concepts from communication and information science, bringing into play the interaction of technology – new, emerging and future – with human behaviours.
Singapore Internet Research Centre (SiRC)
The Singapore Internet Research Centre initiates and conducts research related to the Internet across Asia, including East, Southeast, and South Asia. It aims to be a premier Asian internet research institute, and bring Asian experiences and perspectives to the global discussion about the development, impact, and potential of the Internet. SiRC is interested in four broad themes and approaches – Social consequences and impact, as wel as Innovation and emerging trends, explored through a Research-focused approach through extensive Collaboration.
