Assoc Prof Augustine Pang won the much coveted 2016 Kitty O Locker Outstanding Researcher award for his body of work in crisis communication and management at the 81st Annual International Conference held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA from Oct 19 – 22, organised by The Association for Business Communication (ABC). A paper on “Frame Competition & Climate Change” by Miss Adeline H. Ong, Mr Wen Bin N. Lim, Assoc. Prof. Shirley S. Ho, & Assoc. Prof. Benjamin H. Detenber won a Top Faculty Paper Award at the 2016 International Communication Association Conference (Environmental Communication Division) in Fukuoka, Japan.

Assoc. Prof. Arul Chib, together with co-author Tatjana Todorovic, won a Best Paper Award at the ASEAN-EU conference on Science, Technology and Innovation in Hanoi, Vietnam for the paper, “ Smart Cities and the Elderly: Tensions Between Inclusion and Efficiency”.

Asst Prof Vivian Hsueh Hua Chen was awarded the best paper in Game Studies Division at the International Communication Association Conference for the paper “Relating Video Game Exposure, Sensation Seeking, and Aggression to Adolescents’ School Performance”.

Assoc Prof Arul Chib and the team achieved the highest rated submission and awarded plenary status at the ICA Mobile Preconference for their paper “Using the current evidence on mHealth impact to guide future actions”. The team, led by Assoc Prof Arul Chib, includes PhD students - Nicola Kromer, John Robert Bautista, and Sapphire Lin.

Asst Prof Chih-Hui Lai was awarded a top paper in Organizational Communication Division at the International Communication Association Conference for the paper “Did You Receive What We Provided? A Study of the Co-Evolving Resource Networks after a Technological Disaster”.

Asst Prof Trisha Lin was awarded 1st Top Faculty Paper in Interactive Media and Emerging Technologies Division at the Broadcast Education Association for the paper “Understand user experiences of a multiscreen social TV system: A mix-method study”. She was also awarded 2nd Top Faculty Paper in the Research Division for the paper “How sociability and social presence influence viewers’ bridging social capital and program loyalty”.
