Prof Ang Peng Hwa becomes first Asian to lead the International Communication Association

Professor Ang Peng Hwa was elected President-Elect Select by the members of the International Communication Association (ICA) in the 2014 ICA online election, becoming the first Asian to lead the international organisation.

Upon election, Prof Ang automatically becomes a member of ICA’s Executive Committee. He will serve as Program Chair for the 2015 ICA Conference in Fukuoka, Japan, at the conclusion of which he will become President of ICA.

Prof Ang is the Advisor of the Singapore Internet Research Centre (SiRC) in the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, as well as a professor in the school’s Journalism and Publishing division.

ICA is a prestigious international association headquartered in Washington DC, USA, comprising more than 4,500 members who are mostly media experts and scholars. With an average acceptance rate of 35%, its communication conference is touted as the most competitive.
