Mrs WONG Pei Wen

Pei Wong is a lecturer at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information where she teaches Public Relations, International Public Relations, Digital and Social Media Content Marketing modules and supervises Final Year Projects. In her current role, Pei creates opportunities for her students to work on real-client projects and social causes as well as career opportunities. To date, she has collaborated with Ministries, global and local brands, media intelligence agencies, PR and digital agencies and media owners in the social media space.

Pei is a firm believer in using social listening and PR research to inform campaigns and uses multi-media storytelling techniques across platforms to connect with the audiences. Her current academic interests are Digital and Social Media Marketing, Regional Corporate Communications, International Issues in Public Relations, Content Strategy and Community Management.

In 2015, Pei was awarded the Nanyang Technological University Inaugural John Cheung Award in Teaching for Social Media.

In the same year, Pei volunteered to conduct educational workshops on Advertising at Yangon University in Myanmar with a team of instructors. This was an initiative lead by Prof. Lwin and funded by the Ogilvy Foundation Grant. She also taught the Hanyang Summer Program for students from Korea in 2015.

A seasoned marketing and communication executive, Pei has over 15 years in the Telecommunications, Mobile and Technology industry, of which 10 years were in broad-base leadership roles spanning UK, US and Asia Pacific. She has worked for GTE (now Verizon Wireless), Starhub, British Telecommunications, O2, Yahoo! and Cisco Systems and managed regional teams with reporting line into global headquarters. In these roles, she oversaw corporate and publicity communications, digital and social media strategy, events management, brand strategy and media relations under communication and drove brand and go-to-market product and retail launches regionally.

During her career, Pei was invited for interviews with CNBC, Phoenix TV, Media Corp and numerous national dailies, internet, radio and magazine media to comment on trends in the mobile industry. She has also served as a judge for Media Magazine Creative Awards. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Management Information Systems from The University of Texas at Austin (1995) and a Graduate Degree in Public Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (2011-2013).

She is currently nominated as a member of the Advisory Committee for Chinese Programmes (ACCESS) at Media Development Authority of Singapore.
