Last December, our students went to the village of Na’Phong in Laos as part of WEETRIP. Besides soaking in the culture, they helped construct a multipurpose hall and taught the primary school children!
WEETRIP is the Wee Kim Wee School’s Overseas Community Involvement Programme (OCIP). As a sustainable project between the school and Na’Phong, a group of students are selected every year to visit the village and give back to the community. Applicants are interviewed to see if they have a big heart, and love interacting with kids.
Fundraising, a key aspect of this trip, begins as early as 3 months prior to it. Students try to raise money for these communities through creative methods such as selling food and clothes.
