Overall rationale for proposed changes
The Minor in Communication Studies is open to all students in NTU except students from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. In the rapidly evolving world of info-communication and media technology, it is important to understand the workings and socio-cultural implications of knowledge –driven society. The Minor in Communication Studies will expose students to a more holistic curriculum in a rigorous academic environment.
Academic requirement
With effect from Sem 1, AY2011/2012 and in-line with other Minor programmes offered within CoHASS, students have to fulfill minimum 15 AUs to be awarded the same Minor programme. It may be obtained over the duration of the student’s respective degree course.
To fulfill this requirement, the student must take any three modules from the list of prescribed electives in addition to one compulsory module, CS8100 Fundamentals of Communication Studies. A minimum grade B from CS8100 final examination is required for students to continue with the Minor Programme.

The Minor in Communication Studies will expose students to a more holistic curriculum in a rigorous academic environment.
Academic Requirements
To fulfill this requirement, the student must take three modules in addition to one compulsory module,
CS0201 Foundations of Communication Studies. A minimum grade of B from the CS0201
final examination is required for students to continue with the Minor Programme.
Alternatively, students may read CS8100 at 3 AUs as the Core course in place of CS0201.
A minimum grade of B from CS8100 final examination is required for students to continue with the Minor Programme. A minimum of 15 AUs constitute a minor in Communication Studies.
