Dear Alumni of the Wee Kim Wee School,
This year, we are pleased to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information.

Depending on your year of graduation, you may remember your alma mater, as “CS”, “SCI”, or, in recent times, “WKWSCI”. Name changes aside, this silver jubilee marks 25 years of success in preparing more than 6,000 students for careers in a variety of industries.

Many of you are now leaders of communication-related fields such as advertising, journalism, broadcasting, communication research, public relations or film. Some of you have started your own business or created your own entrepreneurial niche. Among our alumni are professors, librarians, food bloggers, DJs, comedians, knowledge managers and systems analysts, in Singapore and abroad.

But across all generations and industry sectors, what unites graduates of the Wee Kim Wee School is a keen appreciation of creative and critical thinking, a record of achievement and distinction, memories of friendships and life-changing adventures, and the opportunity to pursue a dream.

Tonight, we launch our silver jubilee celebration with #WeeHangout, in which we join together to welcome a new batch of graduating students and rekindle old friendships. In the months to come, we will host several other events designed to promote new learning experiences, career networking opportunities and thought leadership sharing in this rapidly evolving communication landscape. We hope that you will find a topic of interest and an opportunity to learn and network through your participation.

Beyond the activities, we are also pleased to announce a new award that we are launching this year, the Wee Kim Wee School Impact Award. This award will honour alumni who have made a difference in industry, to society, or to a social cause through their meritorious achievement, leadership, creativity and effort.

Furthermore, in recognition of the many alumni who have gone on to become trailblazers and innovators in their careers, we will be forming a new Alumni Advisory Board. This Board will work closely with School management to shape and transform the future of our industry, programs and curriculum.

I would be happy to hear from you if you wish to nominate someone for the Award or the Alumni Board.

Thank you for being part of this evening’s celebrations. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and hearing from you in the months and years to come.
